Could it ever have been as good as the first album? A few people think not, and in my opinion they are right. The new Boys Noize, album although still very good, does not infatuate me the way "Oi Oi Oi" did.
Boys Noize is the creation of Alex Ridha, a Berlin based producer and DJ who's work is nothing but upbeat electro, with some techy edges to it at times. 'Power' is Boys Noize's second album and it is a mysterious bag of treats with quite a few squeaks and bleeps along the way but it rarely delivers the upbeat sound that the title 'Boys Noize Records' is known for.
This album in my opinion makes for frustrating listening. Apart from the songs 'Starter'and 'Jeffer' I do not feel like the music gives enough to the listener, and that the album would sound a lot better pouring from the sound system of a club. Nerve and trooper locate sweet, craft-work, melody pulses but far too often the album falls away and you end up with a minimalist sound that may as well fall away. Next time, more Noize please!
